PHP error monitoring with SyncYak uses rollbar-php, the Rollbar SDK for plain PHP and frameworks such as Symfony and WordPress plugins. Initialise it with your project token and SyncYak’s endpoint, and uncaught exceptions, errors and the messages you log arrive grouped into items with counts and stack traces.
Alerts go to Slack and Datadog; deploys are marked so you can see which release started a problem.
How it works
Set up PHP error monitoring in three steps
Install rollbar-php
composer require rollbar/rollbar.
Initialise it
Rollbar::init with access_token, environment and endpoint https://api.syncyak.com/api/1/.
Add alerts
Connect a Slack incoming webhook for new errors and spikes, and upload source maps from CI.
PHP exception tracking with context
Occurrences carry the request, the server, the person if you set one, and custom data you attach. Live tail shows them as they arrive.
- Uncaught exceptions and fatal errors
- Your own log messages at any level
- Person and custom context
PHP error alerts where your team talks
New errors and spikes post to Slack, per project and environment. Datadog receives lines you can graph next to your metrics.
Set up PHP error monitoring once, for every app
Rollbar::init takes your project token, the environment and the endpoint https://api.syncyak.com/api/1/, and from then on uncaught exceptions and PHP errors report on their own. Call Rollbar::log with a level for anything you want to see that is not an exception, such as a failed payment or a webhook you could not process.
Keep one project per application so alerts reach the right people, and mark deploys from CI so you can tell which release started a spike. Occurrences are kept for your plan’s retention, from 14 days on Free to a year on Enterprise.
- Rollbar::init once at bootstrap
- Rollbar::log for your own events
- One project per app, deploys from CI
Use cases
Where PHP teams use it
Legacy apps
Visibility into code nobody wants to touch.
APIs
Errors per endpoint and environment.
Client sites
One project per site, alerts to the right channel.
What you get with Cloud Logging
Cloud Logging accepts the Rollbar SDKs at the same /api/1/item/ path: rollbar.js in the browser and Node.js, rollbar-php and rollbar-laravel, and the Python and Ruby SDKs. Occurrences are grouped into items, with source maps, deploys, live tail, saved views and alerts to Slack and Datadog.
Free collects 10,000 events a month with 14 days of history. Hobby is $9 a month for 100,000 events; Pro is $29 for 500,000. Past your plan, on-demand events cost $0.10 per 1,000 events, up to a cap you set.
- Change the SDK’s endpoint; keep your access-token setup and error handling
- Grouping, first and last seen, people affected, environments and deploys
- Source maps uploaded with the Rollbar webpack plugin, deploys from CI
- Slack messages for new errors and spikes, and lines for Datadog
Frequently asked questions
Something else? Write to [email protected] and a person answers.
Which PHP versions?
Whatever rollbar-php supports; SyncYak only needs its payloads.
Is the token secret?
Server tokens are; client tokens are for browsers. Use the server token in PHP.
How long is history kept?
Per plan, from 14 days on Free.
Is there a free plan for Cloud Logging?
Yes. Cloud Logging has a free tier with no card and no end date: 10,000 events a month, 14-day retention, rollbar sdk compatible. Paid tiers start at $9 a month, and you can move up or down at any time.
Can I use the other SyncYak products on the same account?
Yes. Email parsing, the mailbox API, CRM sync, error tracking and tunnels share one login, one team, one API key system and one bill. Each product has its own tier, so you only pay more for the one that grows.
